About Me

I was born and raised in the greater Seattle, WA area and graduated with a B.S in Psychology with an emphasis on Neurology and a Master's in Social Work from the University of Washington in Seattle. My husband's job brought us to Idaho Falls, ID in 1991, where I have nurtured my career and myself for most of the recent 24 years. However, for a brief time during those years, I was in Montana earning a second Master's in Health Care Administration from Montana State University – Great Falls campus , and lived 4 years in Wenatchee, WA.

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of Idaho, with a private practice since 1994 and am also licensed in the state of WA., where I continue to consult and provide Clinical Supervision. I belong to NASW (National Association for Social Workers); APT ("National" Association for Play Therapy) and IDAPT (Idaho Association for Play Therapy). I am a founding member of IDAPT and also a past Board member of both Help, Inc. in Idaho Falls, whose mission is to educate and prevent child abuse and FAITH (Family Assistance in Transitional Housing). I currently provide clinical consult for a support group of parents with children struggling with attachment/bonding.

I have provided therapy to adults, children and families since my internships as an undergraduate in the late 1980's. Throughout the years I have acquired intensive trainings in 23 Play Therapy Theories, Theraplay, Sandplay Therapy, Filial (CPRT) Therapy, Attachment Theory and Therapy, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution Focused Therapy and Client Centered Therapy.

In addition I have provided supervision since 1992 to Therapists as they work toward their licensure and have taught Play Therapy for an MSW program. I have also offered several trainings to local agencies, groups and schools in SE Idaho and Wenatchee, WA. on Attachment Theory and Therapy and ADHD. Barbara Robisonson, LCSW, MHA

I believe my life experiences, professional training, skills and clinical experience have given me what I feel is a depth of insight and understanding when working with individuals and families.
